Sayjel Vijay Patel is an architect, software developer, and researcher, and a Founding Assistant Professor at the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI) — the first Institution for Design in Dubai, founded in partnership with MIT and Parsons. Previously, Sayjel was a Principal Investigator with the SUTD Digital Manufacturing and Design Centre (DManD) in Singapore, where he pioneered 3-D Sampling -- a breakthrough method for synthesizing new materials using 3D scanned data-sets and voxel-based, multi-material 3D printing.

Sayjel was born in 1986 in Canada. He received Master of Architecture from the MIT School of Architecture and Planning and a Bachelor of Architectural Studies with Distinction from the University of Waterloo in Canada. Sayjel received his Architectural training from Coop Himmelb(l)au in Vienna, Gensler in Los Angeles and Kohn Pedersen Fox in New York.
